One Year Anniversary

meskel's picture

I realized tonight that last week was my one year jits anniversary. I feel like I've come a long way, but the more I learn the more I see larger holes in my game.

This has been a great year though. I'm very glad to have jits in my life. I think the training partners and coaches here at 5rjj a awesome. Good stuff.

Week in review, Feb 1-7

What a good week for Jits!

So the BJJ1 PSU class seemed to take to the triangle well, I saw lots of good things there. We also worked on transitioning from triangle to armbar. This week we are going over hip-bump sweep and scissor sweep, with a small review and live rolling!

On my personal training front, I'm really excited for A FIRMA. Should be a great program.

Positional Hierarchy

I orginally got this from Jude Ledesma from Berkeley. However, I think it was in a Gracie book; though not sure which one.

I like it because it helps give a beginner a structure to work by ... an understanding of what positions are strategically considered more important than others. I find that it has helped clarify / guide my game. It is a great guide.

Read from top to bottom. It goes from best positions to worst positions in BJJ:

Back with hooks / opponent belly down with you on his back
Back with hooks / you on your back with opponent on you
Mount
