1:30: I love the De La Riva guard , and Kron refuses to be swept. He falls on his butt but hops back up again.

2:40 Anyone have any idea what's going on at 2:40? Some kind of collapsed De La Riva?

3:27 talk about a tenacious and toothy guard, good lord.

3:35 .. and then comes this beautiful beautfil sweep.

5:25 Fear the X-Pass! (That one is for you, Coach Eric! ;)

5:40 But Kron too has a tenacious and toothy guard.

Take Aways from Xande Seminar

Nick Burke's picture

What are your top five take-aways from the Xande Seminar?

For me:

  1. Reiteration of the importance of knee-elbow in all positions
  2. Gripping the collar is a Good Thing
  3. The sick guard recovery from the smash pass
  4. The sweet sweep from deep half guard
  5. Pushing the hips down from guard top and focusing your weight on them.

What I learned at the Subleague Championship

Rylan's picture

Congrats to everyone who competed at subleague this weekend.  Kyle and Cody both got firsts, Andreas got a second, and Brian took a third.

I just had one of those days where I locked myself in my own head and came in dead last in my division.  On the bright side I know what I really need to be working on.  My goal right now is to not put myself into bad spots and to work my mental game.

What did you learn from the Saulo Ribeiro seminar?

Nick Burke's picture

What a great seminar! What'd you learn?

  1. The shin-slide pass block is HUGE.
  2. Keeping your elbows to your knee in a lot bottom positions is good.
  3. Omaplata defense.
  4. Squaring back around.
  5. The two-on-one grabs on the gi from guard.

Food and Supplements???

Rylan's picture

I think a big piece of my routine that is missing is a balanced diet.  I don't just eat fast food or anything like that but I know that my body doesn't get what it needs.  I have been training about twice a day, five or six days a week.  In the next few months I really want to take my fitness to another level and I think a proper diet is what will really take me there.

Basic Diet- How much should I be eating every day?  What should I eat, carbs protein, fats, pancakes, ice cream, grass clippings?
