team_shotIt was a GREAT weekend of Jiu Jitsu and friendship at Five Rings with Professor Saulo.

On top of being a part of the academy's formal picture, Saulo hosted a special 90 minutes train for all members of Team Ribeiro Lovato NW who were attending the public semainar on Friday - over 45 people were in attandance including Korbett Miller the head coach of Miller's Martial Arts in Bellevue and Salem-Keizer BJJ's head coaches Ben Baxter and James Puopolo.

Special congratulations goes to Nick Burke and Kevin Dadik for earning their purple belts. Both guys are very deserving. Big props.

On Saturday, over 75 folks participated in Saulo's "Basics Session", whick focused on survival and escaping common "trouble spots" for beginners. The material was terrific - simple, effective, and mind-blowing all at the same time.

Then, Saulo ran a three hour advanced session focused on "Pressure, Flow, and Combinations". It was absolutely game-changing stuff.

Over the course of the entire weekend I came away with over 30 things to drill, work, train, and implement into my game. All stuff that Professor Saulo discovered as he tracks the evolution of modern Jiu Jitsu. It is amazing how alive and dynamic our sport is.

On top of that, it was great to hear Professor Saulo perspective on training, on the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle, on dealing with the challenges that folks face when training, and his overall views. He is an inspiring and powerful presence.

It was great having head coaches James Foster of Foster's Jiu Jitsu in Seattle and Robert Owens of BJJ Olympia in attendance.
