Perhaps it is just the teacher in me, but I think self assessment is a great tool for continuing to understand your growth in a subject. One of the best ways we can continue to grow in any craft at any ability level is to continue to be "reflective practitioners." The irony is that I took two terms of a class called "The Reflective Practitioner" and hated it, but I some of the ideas really stuck with me.
In my endless attempt to nerd out BJJ, I've been in contact with some so-cal guys to get pictures of the 2009 worlds (World Jiu-Jitsu Championship) to use on articles of top fighters. Long story short, along with some pics they threw a link at me for a blog that is run by one of their black belts. I found this article on there and thought it was really good. Enjoy:
